Stove Safety Knobs

Stove Safety Knob

Stove safety knobs can protect pets and children that are tall enough to reach the counter which means they are also tall enough to accidentally turn on a stove. Choosing quality safety control knobs and setting lockouts on your oven control panel can help prevent the dangers of inadvertent operation.

This recently happened in Parksville, Mo when a home went up in flames. The homes internal camera caught the dog licking grease off the stovetop and then walking away. The dogs paw apparently triggered the touchpad control and minutes later we see smoke start coming from the stove and eventually the pan on the stove bursts into flames. Fortunately no one was injured.

This is more common than you would think. The National Fire Protection Association reports that both cats and dogs accidentally start nearly 1,000 home fires each year.

If you have small children or pets, turn on the touch screen safety controls and if you have turn knobs, buy the safety knob covers that make accidental operation difficult. Read your owners manual and check your local store, or search online for stove safety knobs and controls and find a solution that is right for you.
